Max Payne 3 Launching in March 2012 With Multiplayer
Rockstar Games has announced that the long awaited sequel, Max Payne 3, will arrive in March of 2012 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
What is most surprising about the announcement is this little tidbit.
In addition to an expansive single-player campaign, Max Payne 3 will also be the first entry in the series to introduce a thorough and engrossing multiplayer experience. In a unique twist, Max Payne 3 multiplayer delivers a compelling experience that dynamically alters maps and mode progression for all players in a match. Along with traditional multiplayer modes, Max Payne 3 will also include a deep reward and leveling system, persistent clans and multiple strategic load-out options.
This may scream tacked on multiplayer to a lot of people and while that may be the case, Rockstar Games has been pretty good about multiplayer in Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption. What I’m really hoping this turns out to be like is an old Half-Life mod called The Specialists. It was fast and frenetic with Max Payne style bullet time. When Counter-Strike got boring, we played The Specialists for a long time. I may be getting my hopes up, but this multiplayer sounds like a good idea.
Rockstar also released some new screenshots. Check them out after the jump.
