I missed the VGAs because I had better things to do like celebrate my birthday with my family by eating tons of Korean food and having birthday cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream. Clearly you can see why that would be more important than making it a point to watch an awards show that may pander to the gamer stereotypes (yet actually has a pretty respectable voting panel). But, we’ve got you covered if you want to see all of the winners and world premiere trailers in one place.

Platinum Games has definitely put their mark on this Metal Gear game. I haven’t seen body parts cubed like that since the first Resident Evil movie. It seems quite the departure from the stealth simulation that the Metal Gear series has been about.

 

There isn’t much to say about Hitman Absolution other than, wow. Agent 47 has been away too long.

 

I’m not even sure what to think about this Tony Hawk announcement. It is basically an HD remake of levels in Tony Hawk 1 & 2. Is Tony Hawk even relevant in the gaming world anymore?

 

Typical teaser. Shows nothing. Too bad. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 would be a reason to get a fightstick for my PS3.

 

Naughty Dog’s killer app is finally revealed. Think zombie survival only they’re infected by some kind of fungal virus. As seen in the Uncharted series, this is going to have top-notch voice acting and atmosphere.

 

Mass Effect 3 looks to be an even smoother action experience than before. Has it finally crossed that threshold of being shooter first, rpg second?

 

If you told you I could take Bioware and give them Frostbite 2 technology, would you expect a Command and Conqure game announcement? This could be interesting.

 

*Insert Occupy Wall Street joke here* Terrorism by Americans on American soil. It was bound to happen sometime.

 

You know, Alan Wake was a pretty good game. I’m actually happy to see that they’ll give this series another go. Curious to see if this will be a feature-length release since it is an Xbox Live Arcade game.

 

Spider-Man has had his ups and downs over the last few years. I’m not sure about this whole sci-fi story, but it looks amazing. Hah…

 

Okay, I have to be totally honest. It is hard for me to get excited about anything Transformers. Thanks to a kid named Jeffery who attends classes at the college I work at. We have a movie section where people can watch movies in our bookstore. He comes in and watchers Transformers every day, two or three times a day. We hate it. We can’t stop it. I don’t want to see or hear another transforming robot ever again.

 

Now that Gears of War is over, in it’s current form anyway, Epic Games can focus on new intellectual property. Jury is out on this one.

 

Okay, two trailers with music very reminiscent of music from Deadwood. I’m actually more impressed with how good this game looks. It will be nice to get outside for some fresh air.

 

Saved the best for last. Calling my doctor now for a wrist transplant as my carpal and ulnar nerves will be utterly destroyed by Diablo III. I can already tell.
