Addicted-Gamers: Best of 2011 Video Game Awards
Mike.M – It took a Canadian and a big time Pittsburgh Penguins fan to settle the closest vote amongst all the categories and put NHL 12 over the top. It really was a tough choice as a case could be made for any of the nominees. NHL 12 features the silky smooth puck handling and the consistently slick graphics that has become the hallmark for sports games. Bone jarring hits bring roars of delight from the crowd. Horns blare upon goals scored. Goalies can finally duke it out. Be A GM and Be A Pro modes return giving the player a completely different level of RPG-like simulation as you guide your team through a dynasty or your created player from the minors into the NHL.
No concussions here as I can live out the season that would have been had Sid the Kid were able to resume play. Or, should they be unlocked, you can play as the all-time greats like Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky. NHL 12 skates off with the Best Sports Games of 2011 award by a slim margin, but well deserved.
