Addicted-Gamers Reborn

Addicted-Gamers Reborn

We’re back.

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Like Albert Wesker returning to another Resident Evil. Like…well, you get the idea.

In recent weeks, something seemed to have implanted itself in the back of my mind. It ate away at me until I realized that Addicted-Gamers needs to come back. Only it won’t be the old Addicted-Gamers. This is Addicted-Gamers 2.0.

What does that even mean?

We’re mostly looking for a fresh start. We’re rebooting. We hit some bumps in the road last year and made some mistakes. I made some mistakes and learned from them. This is a do-over. I’m using up a continue.

Operating a website is a massive challenge. People like me get these grandiose ideas about all of the things we will do, but have no clue as to how much planning and work goes into it. You can’t just throw a new domain online and expect every facet of a website to grow. There was steady improvement. Then there was steady decline. We fell directly into the underestimated category.

So what’s different this time?

We’re hoping to streamline our process. Honestly, we just want to have fun bringing you creative, independent, and thoughtful content that you will enjoy and that will keep you coming back. We’re just gamers talking about our favorite thing, games.
So, come join our community in this little corner of the internet. Oh, and pardon our mess while we do a little remodeling.

Thanks.

Addicted-Gamers <3 Week: Our Favorite Games

ag_heart_week

We’ve had sleepless nights over this one. We all love gaming, but we can never really pick one definitive game. After much toiling we’ve each come up with reasons for choosing our favorite games ever. You might be surprised to see that there isn’t one game older than 2003, despite the varied experiences we all have dating back to gaming’s earliest days. Enjoy the musings about our favorite games after the jump, and be sure to check back every day this week for the rest of the Addicted-Gamers Themed Week.

Addicted-Gamers Says Goodbye to 2011, Hello to 2012

2012

Addicted-Gamers’ editors have come together to reflect back on 2011 and wish it a fond farewell as we pick up speed in 2012. We survived the Rapture and must now look forward to the end of the world in 2012. As long as we stick with John Cusack to lead us to the promise land, or a life trapped in giant submersibles, we’ll be okay.

Goodbye, 2011. You were a superb year in gaming. Hello, 2012. We fully expect you to top 2011.

Addicted-Gamers: Best of 2011 Video Game Awards

Addicted-Gamers Best of 2011

2011 was a great year in video gaming and the industry continues to flex its muscle, proving it is the biggest form of entertainment in the universe. It was a year full of the usual blockbuster suspects, risk-takers, sequels and threequels, independents, revivals, and more shooters than you can shake a stick at. This is our first annual Best Of and Game of the Year Awards and it was a remarkable process to comb through the best of the best of 2011. Each one of our nominees is deserving of accolades, but you can only have one winner and for some of these categories, the choice was extremely tough. Some of our choices should definitely lead to some discussion. That’s not a bad thing as we love talking video games here.

We are proud to give you the Addicted-Gamers Best of 2011 and Game of the Year.

Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays if you prefer) from Addicted-Gamers. As we look toward our first new year, here’s hoping you made the best of 2011. Speaking of best of 2011, the little Addicted-Gamer elves are polishing up our very first annual, Best of 2011 & Game of the Year Awards. For now, take the day off, enjoy family, presents, sports, or if you’re here, read any of our reviews or feature articles. Shameless plug…

I think I’ll spend some time gibbing gamers on Gears of War 3 with my new wireless headset.

Addicted-Gamers Wishes You A Happy Thanksgiving

Final Fight Turkey

If ever there was a time to be grateful, this day and time of year is especially it for me. It is no secret that I am in recovery and that I’ve been working steps to become a better person. That includes working towards my goals and living my dreams instead of chasing them as talked about in my Press Start column. Addicted-Gamers.com would not be here if I was still a practicing drunk. I am grateful I get to work on this site and share with you our passion, our compulsion for gaming and entertainment. I’m grateful for all of the guys who have stepped up and helped out in this process. Most of all, I’m grateful for every one of you who comes to visit Addicted-Gamers and supports us.

Now that’s out of the way, if you have money burning a hole in your pocket, most of the Black Friday sales will start tonight. Check out the Cheap Ass Gamer guide to Black Friday we posted. They’ve got a pretty comprehensive list for your gaming needs.

Gorge on food. Watch football and get your gaming in. Just remember to be thankful you have those opportunities to do those things and share the time with friends and family.
