New Dishonored Screens
Arcane Studio’s upcoming title, Dishonored, is proving to be one of those games I can’t help but read about, and each screenshot seems just as enticing as the last, revealing more and more of the beautiful steampunk world the game is set in. But, with the release of these new screenshots, below, my interest grows even more – along with added sorrow for every moment I’m not actually playing it.
The handful of screens show a particular level where Corvo, the game’s main protagonist, has to infiltrate a masquerade ball to assassinate Lady Boyle, an aristocrat who’s apparently funding a military operation that he’s not at all happy about. The problem being she also has two (somewhat similar looking) sisters in attendance, and Corvo has to decide whom among the sisters to murder by examining a series of clues that lead to her true identity. To put to rest worries of questionable replay value: Lady Boyle’s identity and the clues surrounding it will be randomized every time the level is played.
Check out the screenshots below.
Dishonored and Hitman: Absolution Get Release Dates
Finally after months of waiting around we’ve gotten solid release dates for both Arkane Studios’ Dishonored and IO Interactive’s Hitman: Absolution.
October 9th 2012 PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 gamers will get to step into the boots of Corvo – a bodyguard gone rogue – as he attempts to track down and repay those responsible for framing him for murder. Dishonored looks to be a mix between shooter and stealth-action genres set inside a steampunk world. The more and more we learn about this game the more exciting it all gets. I’m personally keeping a keen eye on this title…
O’ Prey 2, Where Art Thou?
You may have heard some rambling over the last month or two concerning the seemingly extinguished flame that is Prey 2.
However; almost as if starting to follow its predecessor’s own vastly complicated and drawn out development stage, a post on the Bethesda Blog assures gamers that Prey 2 is in fact NOT cancelled but will not be releasing in 2012 as was originally planned. Specifically, the issue seems to revolve around the game not meeting Human Head Studios’ own set of release-standards – resulting in the need for more time in order to the bring the title up to snuff. For more about Prey 2 you can find a brief overview and cinematic trailer below…
Kinect Coming For Skyrim
Ever wanted to actually belt out FUS RO DAH and watch as a gaggle of bandits flew half-way across the map? Well now you can! Before the end of the month The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be getting a free update for the Xbox 360 that allows integration for Microsoft Kinect’s speech recognition technology. Not only will you be able to actually vocalize those dragon shouts but you’ll also be able to issue voice commands to your followers, navigate the menu system, and equip weapons/armor/spells on the fly just to name a few. After the break you can find a video covering all the kinds of things the Kinect will be able to do with Skyrim…
Skyrim’s Creation Kit and Steam’s Workshop Are a Hit
To absolutely no one’s surprise the highly anticipated modding tools for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have would-be game makers going full steam ahead with their projects and creations. ZeniMax Media Inc (owner of Bethesda Softworks) today announced that within 72 hours of the Creation Kit’s launch over 2 million downloads were recorded – making both the CK and the new Steam Workshop utility a huge hit with PC gamers. Currently, there are over 2,500 different mods uploaded to the Workshop with many, many more in the process of being made.
Creation Kit and “Special Surprise” Out Today
The day has finally come. At long last the end-all modding tools known as the Creation Kit for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been released to the public!
To coincide with it’s release Bethesda hinted at a special surprise. Naturally a lot of people assumed that this surprise would be the announcement of the game’s first DLC – certainly a possible conclusion seeing as how Bethesda openly stated that not only will Skyrim get additional content but it will be the biggest and best slate of content the developer has ever produced
However there was no DLC announcement…
Ten Must Have Mods For Skyrim
Even though we were promised the Creation Kit with the 1.4 multi-platform update it looks like Bethesda wasn’t entirely ready to let its highly anticipated modding tools go quite yet. However, thanks to a tweet we now know that we won’t have to wait another agonizing three months for the CK but instead only a few more days! To go hand-in-hand with the Creation Kit, Steam will also be launching their Steamworks utility for the first time ever – making it faster and easier to browse, download, upload, and apply modifications for not only Skyrim but other games in the future…
RAGE Out On the Mac
If you Mac-Heads thought Tropico 3: Gold Edition was the best you were going to get think again.
id Software’s RAGE is now available in English, German, and French on the Mac App Store thanks to none other than Aspyr Media – the leader of Mac game publishing.
RAGE: Campaign Edition includes everything that came with the Anarchy Edition (Double Barrel Shotgun, Fists of Rage, Rat Rod Buggy, and Crimson Elite Armor) as well as the Wasteland Sewers Missions which add plenty of mutant blasting and looting opportunities.
While I never got around to finishing the game I was pretty impressed by it. Visually it’s a marvel. On release it was a tad rocky with some systems (especially those using ATI cards on the PC) but things eventually got better. This is certainly a game worth checking out if you’re a fan of old school shooters like id’s past blockbusters Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein.
