PS Vita and PS3 CrossPlay Detailed in Video

Playstation Vita

When the PSP launched back in 2005, there was a created perception that cross platform integration was going to be one of the huge draws of this new powerful, portable device. Once the PS3 released, you were going to have all these options; playing via remote play, sharing media, and so on. The two devices would work harmoniously together, so having both the PS3 and PSP would only make your experience richer, right?

Well, not really. The push for this seamless integration never really came. Sure, my PS3 turned into a hub of sorts, allowing me to download pictures, videos, themes, demos, and games, but all of this was just as easily accomplished on PC. Even remote play, which still has a designated spot on the XMB to this day, became little more than an annoyance that kicked my screen into standard depth after accidentally clicking on it.

But Sony is looking to avoid the missteps of the original PlayStation Portable. This time around – with the Vita – they want the device to truly complement the PlayStation 3. “Cross Play” seems to be on the agenda for making this cohesiveness a reality, and the video below gives more info on the subject.
