Despite previous statements that the new Gears of War game wouldn’t be revealed until Monday, Game Informer has went ahead and shown off the cover images for their new issue and revealed the name of the title, Gears of War: Judgment. There are two different covers, with the only difference being who is pictured in handcuffs, with one cover showing Augustus “Cole Train” Cole and the other showing Damon Baird. No details have yet been revealed, but the safe money would be on the game being a prequel, as both characters seem to look younger than they did in the original Gears of War.
The full reveal will take place on Monday, June 4th at 12:30 PM ET/ 9:30 AM PT during Microsoft’s E3 press conference.
Gears of War 3 was the closing out of a saga, a conclusion to the time spent with the Delta Squad, but it wasn’t Epic putting the series to bed altogether.
The next game in the Gears of War franchise will be appearing on the cover of the July issue of Game Informer, presumably accompanied by a multipage preview. The magazine did confirm the game will be returning to the Xbox 360 – no surprise there. But not much else in way of details was given. Not even a name. Until Monday, when Microsoft hold the game’s “full unveiling” during their E3 press conference, we’re stuck with only a lonely image to look at, which you can get a better view of here.
Perhaps your attention is starting to detract from Gears, and it’s understandable considering the barrage of awesome games in 2011. But with the continuing inclusion of extra content, Microsoft and Epic are sure making it difficult to move on.
Fenix Rising, the third major DLC pack for Gears of War 3, is coming January 17th for 800 Microsoft Points or if you have a Season Pass, it’s free. Fenix Rising will include new and old maps, character and weapon skins, and a “Re-Up” feature.
That’s right folks, the second title update, technically the first patch, is now live! Well technically not right now, but it will be reached by most gamers on the 16th, from 2-4 A.M. pacific time. This update is second only to the one which reset the leaderboards for those fortunate enough to have a crack at the game before it’s September 20th release.
After the break, there is the list of fixes also seen on the Gears of War community site.
Welcome to the Addicted-Gamers Gears of War 3 Multiplayer Survival Guide
You’ve had a long week at work. You’ve finished the campaign and it is time to test your mettle online. The last thing you want is to be someone’s free-frag bitch. Our survival guide is going to cover the Versus Modes and hopefully give you the means to win, kill, or at least not be Sawed-Off ground beef. Gears of War multiplayer has always had a learning curve. You either get good or you end up as giblets.
It’s finally over. Gears of War 3 closes out a saga that really has helped define this generation of console gaming and establish the Xbox 360 with one of its few untouchable exclusives. Gears brought machismo, bravado, violence, bromance and a story of hopelessness that nothing could possibly replicate. It’s a bittersweet ending because I don’t want it to be over. As they say though, all good things must come to an end. I wasn’t sure that I wanted to do this review. I’m not objective when it comes to Gears of War. I have loved everything about it. Alas, it is time to rev my Lancer one final time.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Right?
