Sniper Elite V2 (360, PS3, PC)
Release Date: May 1, 2012
Sniper Elite V2 is a remake of the original Sniper Elite that released in 2005. There are slight differences in the story and main character, but for the most part it’s a reboot. The biggest new addition this time around is the inclusion of an “X-Ray Kill Cam” that adds style to the end of certain shots you make. It’s hard not to think of 2011′s Mortal Kombat when seeing the anatomical representations of your enemies as a bullet rips through their liver, but Sniper Elite V2 utilizes it well and adds some style to sniping someone from 500 yards. The demo was a lot of fun when trying to line up a long distance snipe while judging for wind, bullet drop, and your breathing patterns. However, when forced into up-close confrontations the game becomes considerably less fun.
For those of you who still own Splinter Cell: Conviction you will be able to get your hands on the Ghost Recon: Future Soldier multiplayer beta starting on April 12th. Ubisoft is also holding a competition on facebook to give away codes for those of you who no longer own Sam Fisher’s latest outing. The beta will give players a glimpse of what to expect when the title launches on May 25th.
PlayStation Plus, at one time, felt somewhat like a lost cause, but now – not so much. The team over at PlayStation have been working hard, delivering viable content, making PS Plus a worthwhile service, and ultimately putting a smile on the face of those who have invested in it. Like next month, for example, PS Plus subscribers will have more than enough to look forward to, and a good portion of it is free.
Beginning on April 3, two of the bigger draws for the month, Shank 2 and Shift 2: Unleashed, are free to download. Also free in April, Plus subscribers can expect PSOne Classic Silent Hill and PSN Title Frogger Returns; and the inevitable PSN Minis, laughable descriptions and all, Canabalt, Farm Frenzy 2 and Mystic Garden. On top of those offerings, Plus subscribers will get early access to the closed beta for Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – which has no listed date yet, but will start sometime in April.
Additionally, there will be discounts on House of the Dead 4, Disney Universe, and GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City.
