Upon my recently completing the Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection and in a bit of irony, it appears that Fumito Ueda, the luminary creator of Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and forthcoming The Last Guardian has left Sony and the development team he founded, Team Ico, as first reported by Eurogamer. He is working in a freelance capacity to help finish The Last Guardian, which may very well end up being Team Ico’s magnum opus. In this day and age of corporate restructure, it will be interesting to see what happens to the beloved developer once The Last Guardian finally sees some daylight.

Originally slated for late 2011, The Last Guardian has moved into 2012, no specified timeframe and was inexplicably missing from the most recent E3, Gamescom, and Tokyo Game Show, gaming’s largest expos.

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are quite simply two of the greatest PlayStation 2 games ever. The 2001 and 2005 releases more than stand the test of time. They manage to outdo many of the games that are influenced by them. They are as minimal and complex as any games that have been released before, since, and after them. The fact that they got an HD makeover from Bluepoint Games on the PlayStation 3 is icing on the cake as both games look superb with their remastered textures and higher resolution definition. Oh, did I mention that I’ve never played either game? I can now check them off of my bucket list.

It Came! It Came! Xenoblade Chronicles Finally Came!

A Christmas Story Xenoblade Chronicles

I’ve been waiting for two weeks, EAGERLY, checking the mail each day to see what the mailman might’ve left me. Every day resulted in slight disappointment. Today, something shows up from Royal Mail. My heart raced and I tore into the package. There it was. My copy of Xenoblade Chronicles for Nintendo Wii. The only game on the Wii I’ve ever been excited about playing.
