MLG Pro Circuit Spring Championship – June 8-10 – Anaheim, CA

Everybody get excited. There’s some serious pro gaming going on this weekend. Coming from California, MLG Anaheim will feature ridiculous amounts of competitive gaming starting tonight (Friday, June 8th) at 8PM EST (5PM PST) and continuing through Sunday. With players and teams coming from all over the world, you can expect to see some of the most exciting gameplay of the spring (summer)! The games featured are: Starcraft 2, League of Legends, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur V, and King of Fighters XIII.

In an age when games can range upwards of $50 or include monthly fees just to play, it is refreshing to see a free game that draws more than a paltry number of fans. Enter League of Legends (LoL). This free action RTS from Riot Games boasts more active players than World of Warcraft without the soul-sucking aspects of an MMO. Having sold my soul to WoW once (we won’t go into detail about how I got it back), I was very cautious when I first heard of LoL. When I finally broke down and gave it a go, I was surprised to find it to be fun and casual. But the scope of LoL goes well beyond that. Over the next six months, I developed a love-hate relationship with one of the most successful eSports PC games.
