First Medal of Honor: Warfighter Gameplay Footage

Medal of Honor Warfighter

We get our first (dimly-lit) look at Medal of Honor: Warfighter, with its first gameplay trailer, which, in addition to all the action, reveals a “40-hour tactical headstart” if you preorder.

I assume there’s a template out there, somewhere, that all military first person shooter trailers are required to follow: Trailer must be dark – very dark. Trailer must have rapid cuts between scenes and shaky camera work. Trailer must have lots of gunfire and a minimum of three explosions – but more are encouraged. Trailer must have men screaming cliche action movie phrases, such as “Get down!” or “He’s got a bomb!” At no time in the trailer must the viewers ever feel comfortable enough to assume they know what the plot’s about.

Check, check and check. You may view the trailer below.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter, the follow up to 2010′s reboot, is back in the news and not because of its questionable name, Warfighter. The upcoming details that were promised back in February are now arriving – perhaps, unintentionally – in the form of a leaked European trailer that reveals an October 23 release date. The expected gunfire and explosions and dramatic narration are all there as well.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, and those who preorder will be upgraded to a limited edition copy for no extra charge.

After getting wind of the leak, EA has released the US trailer, which also shows October 23 as the release date. Trailer after the jump.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter Announced, Coming October [Updated]

Medal of Honor

The next installment in the Medal of Honor franchise is coming this October.

As revealed in the latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine, the title, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, is being developed by Danger Close studios, the same studio behind the 2010 reboot. It won’t stray to far from 2010′s Medal of Honor, with the story continuing to focus on Tier 1 Operators.

This time around, however, multiplayer is being developed in-house – not by DICE. Warfighter will also be powered by the Frostbite 2.0 engine, the same engine being used for Battlefield 3.

Update: The Medal of Honor blog confirmed the title and expressed their excitement about revealing more information in the coming weeks. Until then, they’ve left us with a teaser image (after the break).
