Newest PS2 Classic Is Psychonauts, Coming to PSN Tuesday

Psychonauts

Up until now, the only way to get a taste of this beloved title on the PlayStation 2 was to go rummaging around in a bargain bin, probably filled with discs that were used as coasters and frisbees. However, another option will be available soon.

According to the PlayStation Blog, Psychonauts will be coming to the PlayStation Network as a PlayStation 2 Classic. It’ll be added to the roster in North America on August 28 in a largely unchanged state from its original release – no graphical upgrade and no trophies. We’re guessing the price will line up will all other PS2 Classics at $9.99, which we will telepathically try to communicate to you… Ok, fine, we’ll just say it. It’s totally worth it.

While We Wait: Twisted Metal

Sweet Tooth

The Twisted Metal series has been dormant for many years. The last original game was released on the PSP almost seven years ago, and the last original release on a home console was almost ten years ago. The wait for a new entry in the series is about over because Twisted Metal for the PS3 releases in February. Chances are many gamers have either forgotten or don’t know anything about the series’ past. While we wait, it’s as good of a time as any for a refresher on what the series is all about.

The series had its humble beginnings on the first PlayStation in 1995, and it was developed by Single Trac. David Jaffe, the man behind the God of War series, is the creator of Twisted Metal, and he has been involved with every game in the series to be released. The game is known for its balls to the wall vehicular combat, demented characters, and their equally demented vehicles like a clown with a flaming hairdo driving an ice cream truck.

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection PS3 Review

Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection Box Art

Publisher: Sony Computer Entertainment
Developer: Team Ico/Bluepoint Games
Genre: Action Adventure
Players: Single
Release Date: Sept. 27, 2011
Rated: T – Teen

Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are quite simply two of the greatest PlayStation 2 games ever. The 2001 and 2005 releases more than stand the test of time. They manage to outdo many of the games that are influenced by them. They are as minimal and complex as any games that have been released before, since, and after them. The fact that they got an HD makeover from Bluepoint Games on the PlayStation 3 is icing on the cake as both games look superb with their remastered textures and higher resolution definition. Oh, did I mention that I’ve never played either game? I can now check them off of my bucket list.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Release Date Set

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Release Date

Konami has announced a European release date for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection of February 3, 2012 for PS3 and Xbox 360. It appears that the North American release is still set for Nov. 8, 2011. Admittedly, I’ve only played through Metal Gear Solid on PlayStation One, so these would be all new to me. I was too busy lootwhoring it up in Everquest for about 800 years. This will of course be the first time the series will be appearing on systems not produced by Sony.
