Update: The new overhauled PlayStation Store’s launch is postponed in several territories, including North America. This news follows reports of a cancelled UK launch as well, and apparently even though the Store is up and going in other places (such as Turkey and Greece) it’s running in a less than satisfactory state. I’ve half a mind to think this new PS Store doesn’t exist at all.
It’s about damn time. A quick glance at a comments section somewhere and it’s clear PlayStation 3 gamers have been clamoring for some kind of aestestic change for ages. They’re tired of the constant blue that plays background to the endless list of menus and sub-menus, incomprehensible categories and rudimentary search tools. Looking across the pond to see Microsoft, altering their virtual playground as often as possible, doesn’t help either. But now they too have their change.
In Europe, the PlayStation Store has been updated with a new look. The new design adds a ‘What’s New’ page, new feature categories and new search options. It displays store items, similarly to the Xbox 360 dashboard, within a collage of images that will highlight feature content, as opposed to the uniformed list-based set up of before.
The full transformation will not take effect in North America until next Tuesday on October 23.

The Unfinished Swan might have one of the more unusual concepts we’ve seen this year – an all-white world in which the player, controlling a floating paint brush, splatters color all throughout, giving life to an otherwise dull and lifeless place – but it’s a concept we’re nonetheless intrigued by.
Developer Giant Sparrow are attempting to pull the curtain back just a little before launch, which they’ve just announced the release date to on the PlayStation Blog, along with a developer diary.
The Unfinished Swan will arrive exclusively on the PlayStation Network in North America on October 23, and a week earlier for PlayStation Plus members on October 16. In Europe, the release will happen on October 24 and October 17, respectively.

Sony has been diligent about redesigning it’s console systems for form and function dating back to the venerable PSOne. The PS3 has already seen it’s share of remodels, this time, it gets smaller, lighter, and will feature two models that include 250 GB and 500 GB hard drives respectively. If you’re keeping track, this new model is 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the current slim PS3. Makes you wonder what they manage to squeeze out each time, doesn’t it?
The new 250 GB PS3 bundle will be available September 25 for $269.99 as part of a limited edition bundle that includes Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Game of the Year Edition, a voucher for around $30 worth of content for the digital title DUST 514, which of course is a free to play online shooter based on the EVE Online MMO.
