A Look Into the Mind of Daigo “The Beast” Umehara

Daigo Umehara

Shoryuken.com has an extensive interview with the all-time Street Fighter competitor great, Daigo “The Beast” Umehara. He most recently took a shocking 4th place in Evolution 2011 after winning it all in 2010 and 2009. He would probably tell you his crowning achievements are one of his MANY tournament wins. I would tell you that Evolution 2004 moment #37 is what vaulted his name into mythical internet folklore. It was even made into a trial in the recent Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition or SF3:TSOE as I so lovingly coined it.

He plans on using Akuma when AE 2012 (Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition’s version update) is released. He doesn’t regret using Yun in EVO 2011. He thinks the competition is getting tougher. I’d love to get a chance to get my ass kicked by “The Beast”.

Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition Patch Info

Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition

The Capcom-Unity blog has the patch info on an upcoming patch scheduled for 9/27 that will fix bugs, gameplay issues, and connectivity issues. Now if they’d fix the Color Pack 1 DLC, I’d be all over that. I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had a chance to jump on SF3TSOE (think I can make that stick?)

Read the info after the jump.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition XBLA Review – Let’s Get It On Now! UPDATED

Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition

Street Fighter III has always been an enigma in the history of Street Fighter. Ken and Ryu were the only returning cast from Street Fighter II (or Alpha for that matter). Double Impact and Third Strike added Chun Li and Akuma, most likely to bring back some of the alienated fringe players who had no returning favorites. Many of the new characters were extremely bizarre even when compared to the likes of Blanka and Dhalsim. Gameplay was revamped, making Street Fighter III a more hardcore, less newbie friendly game. It saw home releases on a meagerly supported Dreamcast system and in the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection years later, none of which were arcade perfect. Street Fighter III: Third Strike is still considered by hardcore fans to be the best competition Street Fighter ever based on its depth and level of skill needed to excel. So it is now, a whole new generation are exposed to the twelve year old Third Strike and an older generation get to relive the magic in Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
