Double Fine’s Kickstarter Passes $3 Million
Being Tim Schafer – creator of Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, and Psychonauts – means a number of things. One, you wakeup everyday and your body just radiates brilliance. Two, because of that brilliance and the pedigree you’ve created, people are willing to throw money at you. As is the case with Notch wanting to fund Psychonauts 2 and the staggering amount of support Double Fine has received after announcing plans for a new old school point-and-click adventure game.
Today, on its last day of availability, the Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter has surpassed the $3 million mark (which was actually the budget back when they made Grim Fandango). At the time of writing, with only 10 minutes to go, the developer has received $3,289,298 in donations from 86,099 backers. Pretty impressive numbers considering their initial goal was $400,000 and let’s not forget: this game doesn’t even exist in any form yet.
Below you can view a blooper reel from the first video released, which proves Tim Schafer does make mistakes. Albeit mistakes with only positive effects.
