Tomb Raider E3 2012 Crossroads Trailer
Crystal Dynamics’ new reboot of Tomb Raider was one of the most impressive games shown at E3 last year, using a trailer to demonstrate stunning visuals and what seemed like a more raw and brutal story than what the franchise is used to.
Fast forward almost a year later and we now have another impressive trailer for Lara Croft’s new adventure. This entry still looks like it will be the most raw and realistic game in the series, although the graphics in some parts of the trailer seem to warrant its push into next year. That being said, I haven’t looked forward to a Tomb Raider game this much in, well, forever. March 5, 2013 can’t come fast enough.

Another week, another game that’s been pushed to the edge of the 2012-cliff, and fallen into the perilous pit of 2013. (At least that’s how I’m seeing it in my head.) Not long ago, we were soured by the news of Ni no Kuni and Bioshock Infinite‘s delay, and now Tomb Raider – originally planned for Fall of 2012 – has been pushed to the first quarter of 2013 for some extra polish that Crystal Dynamics believes is necessary to “deliver the very highest quality game.”
“We’re doing things that are completely new to Tomb Raider in this game and the additional development time will allow us to put the finishing touches into the game and polish it to a level that you deserve,” wrote Crystal Dynamics Head Darrell Gallagher. “We believe this is the right choice and I guarantee it will be worth the wait.”
New Tomb Raider Film Slated for 2013 Release
Lara Croft’s bursting her way back into the Hollywood scene with a new blockbuster planned for release in 2013. The movie will focus on Croft’s ruthless past and her battle for survival in her youth. However, the Tomb Raider reboot may not directly coincide with an upcoming Lara Croft video game also set to focus on the explorer’s formative years.
